Grandma and Pops Visit and take us away!!

My parents called and asked what they could do to make our move easier. Our answer was come and visit and take us away from our cruddy rental... so we spent a week on the Kitsap Peninsula. Our house was on the water and we saw deer, eagles... it was perfect. Jeff commuted to work via the ferry and I loved having the view, the water, quiet walks, meals cooked and extra hands for help. Now I am soooo sad to be without them but sooo lucky.
She is just nuts for that trike!!

"I do NOT like the DONKEY" she says

Bike riding in Leavenworth WA this weekend we thought it would be fun to introduce her to barn animals. She did NOT enjoy this but it did make us laugh... is that cruel?
'Give me a kiss' he says

Sometimes all that makes it better is momma luv.

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!

She shrieked continually about her new trike from Grandma and Pops while sporting an entire new wardrobe from Auntie Laura. Perhaps it was cause I was jumping up and down in excitement. She has her first BIKE/TRIKE!!!!
So look at us... not sure who is more excited!!!!!!!! She was a natural. Notice the feet don't come anywhere close to the pedals. It is just as well cause she doesn't know what to do yet but soon enough she will have it figured out.

Elizabeth's Hike

After spending 2.5 hours in her carrier Eliz was VERY ready for her own hike. She made lap after lap after lap around the hikers shelter and then was ready for a long nap on her trip back down the mountain.

Hiking

At the summit. Elizabeth with a trooper for five hours in her carrier.
She managed to eat some ten strawberries for lunch. She has declared herself as a fruitarian. Look at this great lunch rock!

Mid August and snow is still around!

Westie Camping with Laura

The chef and his assistant.
Laura sporting the latest fashions... notice how far she has to fold up my pants.... are we really related???
Here we are on the last day we owned our first home. Difficult time as we were moving into a semi-gross rental however things have certainly brightened. Once again Laura was our saving grace. She always manages to descend during difficult times making life so much brighter (she was here last year during my 40th and 41st weeks of pregnancy.. fun). My parents are coming for 9 days and taking us on vacation! Oh and we bought a house... should be moved by end of September. Yippie!!

Check her out

http://mostlybabypictures.blogspot.com/

We have such great friends that were able to help us this weekend during our move. Alison caught some great shots of Eliz and Lila. We were even able to relax and spend some time with them at the park. I love that they are growing up together and turning a year. YIKES.

SHAKE IT UP

After and Before Shots

With great apprehension and excitement for what may come we are leaving our first home. I hope you can tell which are 'before' and 'after'. The green shag carpet is gone, the ceilings are raised, the kitchen and bathroom are pristine and it has been transformed into an amazing home. Not sure where we will be long term (within Seattle) but our bags are packed and the movers arrive at 9am tomorrow. Yikes!!

Camping Shots and a Stemming Tree

Jeff and I met in the mountains climbing and since having our daughter we have had to find new ways to enjoy the mountains. There are no 100 mile bike rides through the hills or summits over glaciers but with Elizabeth we are discovering new pacific northwest adventures. Hiking, gentle rolling hills pulling her in the burley and simply chilling at the campsite.
We are also learning the ways of campgrounds and the Westie campervan culture. Here are some Westie rules:
  • when passing another Westie on the road wave or better yet hand out the window with the peace sign
  • always say hello to other westie campers when setting up camp
  • important questions that are always asked... what year is yours? is it a standard or automatic? how many miles? No other topics are really discussed, just the status of your van. It is a new world.

Jeff and Eliz napping

She is napping on her daddy but hard to spot. See that little tuft of her pink jacket...
Just opening her eyes...
and waking.

Hiking - Olympic Peninsula

We headed out in the Westie to explore the Olympic Peninsula for five days. It is an amazing area with hikes in the rain forest...
Beaches...
and high alpine. Wish we were there now as Seattle is being hit with 100 degrees today and nobody has air conditioning. I think we will head out to the lake with the rest of the city.

Swimming is still a highlight

She still loves swimming and manages to sort of float on her back. Time at the pool results in exhaustion and good sleep which makes for happy happy parents.

Brunch at Maria's with Lila

The girls are so different. Alison and I are having so much fun watching them change. Lila is all over the place climbing stairs and just on the edge of walking. We can not believe they are almost a year old. CRAZY!
